Speaker Young Person of the Year

Well done to Ross McDonald who was presented with the Speaker Young Person of the Year Award by Cabinet Secretary of Justice Kenny MacAskill on Monday 15th August. Ross has done a power of voluntary work at Craigentinny Community Centre, helping out at Easter and Summer playschemes and acting as a mentor to younger local children. He has also been a contributor to the Craigentinny/Duddingston Neighbourhood Partnership and has played a part in fundraising and setting up the new Youth Cafe. This has now been running for a couple of months and Ross not only attends but helps plan and organise the weekly activities.

Given recent events throughout England it is especially good to hear this news about young people making a solid contribution to society. Ross, and his wee brother Luke were a credit to mum Lisa on the day and all at Kristoffersen's would like to wish them all the best for the future. Well done. ( The company has sponsored this event for the last 6 years and it was designed to showcase and reward all that is good about young folk)

Thanks are due once again to all the people working hard with the youth in the area, especially Donna Melrose for nominating Ross and also Kenny MacAskill and his team for once again taking the time out to present the award (and a lovely lunch!)
